General Pipeline Operation Following the Schedule:

Step 1:

Please consult the posted schedule as there are periods of time dedicated to some users exclusively and water will not be available to the others.

Step 2:

The two gates at the water inlet structure should be completely open.

The end valve at the end of the south branch should be open by one turn only from the closed position.

The end valve at the end of the diagonal branch should be completely open.

Step 3:

If users along the diagonal line wish to draw water from the pipeline, backpressure can be created by gradually shutting down the end of line valve after making sure that their line valve was previously opened.

*** At all times, insure that the water is allowed to flow freely and does not overflow at the inlet box.

Early season Startup Procedure

The steps 1-5 below should be followed prior to letting water into our ditch system for the first time of the year.

Step 1:

Install special planks (red labels) leaving a gap at the bottom at G1 (consult network layout) and the opening to lot#35 (Seaman’s) wide open.  This way, most floating debris will be flushed out. See diagram below…

Make sure that the water cannot go through lot#35 and reach the pipeline yet.

The pipeline inlet box also has a debris filter that will catch most of the debris (larger than leaves) and it will require more frequent cleaning during that early season period.

Step 2:

Close the 3 drain valves at the lowest point of each lines. They will need to be shut off by turning them clockwise using the special key tool (refer to Pipeline Layout for location).

Step 3:

Open the two end of line valves located on the east side of Meadows Cir. Road to allow water to flow through the pipeline.  The diagonal line valve can be open fully since that ditch can accept the most water.  The south line valve (in front of lot#14) should be open by approximately one turn counterclockwise from the shut off position.  The ditch serving the houses after that is much smaller and cannot accept all of the water.

Step 4:

Open the gates at the inlet boxes.  Prior to opening these two gates, ensure that the filter is clean and properly installed.

The two gates are opened by turning the orange wheels counterclockwise. It can take 20 or more turns to fully open each gate.

Step 5:

Let water flow through the ditch on lot #35 until it reaches the pipeline inlet box on lot#21.

The pipeline inlet box also has a debris filter that will catch most of the debris (larger than leaves) and it will require more frequent cleaning during that early season period.

Make sure that the water does not overflow the inlet box. It can take a long time to completely fill the pipeline and reach equilibrium.  The inlet should be attended for an extended period of time at startup (maybe an hour or more).
